born in Shanghai, Weiwei Xu is a composer & sound artist. she focuses on different aspects in composition: instrumental timbre, recorded sounds, improvisation, and design temporal structure, think within and beyond the convention - rationality, sensitivity, fragility, spontaneousness, and indeterminacy.
weiwei studied composition with Peter Edwards at the National University of Singapore - Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, with Klaus Lang and Beat Furrer at the Kunstuniversität Graz.
She is awarded with full tuition grant from National University of Singapore - YSTCM.
selected in Dian Red Kechil International Young Composers Residency supported by Goethe Institute 2013

and was finalist in Franz Schubert Composition Competition.

2021-2024. She has worked as project curator & organizer at the SHANGHAI WEST BUND MUSEUM for music projects relating to the exhibition (by pompidu centre) THE VOICE OF THINGS; as editor for CLASSICAL 947 summer music on air.
with support by Jose Luis Martinez, Hans Martin and GUOFEI. four of us established an online remote international new music organization x.sounding.
weiwei is the main organizer in Shanghai for x.sounding IN-LIVE event.
